What to Expect at your Initial Clinical Pilates Assessment

  1. Come dressed in shorts or leggings and tank top or sports bra so the therapist is able to do a full assessment of your movement.

  2. Your therapist will ask a few questions about your past medical history and injuries to better understand your movement goals for treatment. If you have any imaging: Xray, MRI, CT scan, or Ultrasound your therapist will want to review these results with you either during your initial assessment or on your follow up appointment.

  3. Your therapist will complete both a postural and biomechanical assessment looking at range of motion, strength and your muscle recruitment and motor control strategies throughout your body.

  4. They will complete the session with an explanation of the Basic Principles of Pilates and discuss where these concepts can be applied to your specific movement goals and outlined how they can build a program to address various deficits or non-optimal patterns that they find in your assessment.
