You deserve to move with more ease
I know what it feels like to be frustrated with your body and worried about pushing yourself due to fear of re-injury.
Impossible just takes a little bit longer
By creating a tool box of resources and strategies I have been able to continue doing the activities I love and move my body in a variety of ways that lights me up. Let’s find ways to help you do the same.
Hey, I’m Steph!
I help people connect with their bodies and educate them on more efficient ways to move so they can return to the activities they love.
I am an orthopedic physiotherapist and own my own practice Compass Physio & Pilates in East Vancouver. I received my Masters in Physical Therapy from UBC and have completed my Level 3 Orthopedic Manual therapy along with certification in Gunn IMS and Anatomical Acupuncture (CAFCI).
A former Canadian Olympic Track & Field Athlete and 3-time bronze medalist at Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games, I retired from International level sport following years of injuries. I spent years seeking out the top therapists, educating myself on the latest nutritional supplements to assist with recovery and learning how to control the mental aspects involved in high level sport. When injuries forced me out of sport, I was determined to overcome the pain and continue to explore all the activities I wasn’t able to do while training as a professional athlete. I utilized Pilates and yoga to assist with my own rehabilitation and went on to become a fully certified STOTT Pilates instructor and later completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training.
When I decided to pursue my masters in Physiotherapy my goal was to better understand the human body and build a bridge between rehabilitation and functional movement combining both Physio, Pilates and various movement practices together. My hope was to help others with repetitive injuries find the root cause of their problems and better learn to manage them with various tools. I now integrate my knowledge of sport along with Pilates principles and the study of human movement to help clients suffering from a variety of spinal issues such as Scoliosis all the way to those rehabilitating various sporting injuries.
